Black Belt Leadership Training and, Producing Professional Instructors Through Certified Instructor Training (CIT)

The Federation also puts a premium on professional business management so that our organization grows in quality and quantity.  To accomplish this, The Federation offers quarterly seminars for instructors and school owners using the Martial Arts Success Training System (MASTS).

Mission Statement

Our purpose is to sanction and certify quality martial arts through developing professional instructors and studio owners. Our mission is to promote traditional martial arts for the 21^st century and raise the standard of professionalism to a level that has here to for not been available. Our approach is based on the knowledge that attitude is more important than aptitude and action is more important than education alone. That is, great school owners are developed through professional training (education) and yet proven over time through the their action.    

The Organization

    The Federation is a world wide group that encompasses all parts of the globe. Atlantic-Pacific Headquarters is located at 3947 Ga. Hwy 317 in Suwanee, Georgia. Our zip code is 30024. Our office number is 770/614-9884.

    The Federation is affiliated with other traditional Tang Soo Do organizations for the purpose of sharing training and resources. Our sister organization is the Asia Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation headquartered in Australia under the direction of Chief Master Stephen G. Washington, Chil Dan.

    Head Master St. James oversees all Masters testing to Yuk Dan (6th Degree). Head Master St. James, Chief Master Washington, and Grandmaster Lee, Young Gu and a senior panel of instructors will oversee all Masters testing for Chil Dan (7th Degree). There will be a panel of distinguished Masters and Chief Instructors at all Dan and Masters testing.

    The Federation believes and practices the original ideals or principles of Tang Soo Do  which are:

    The Federation exists to focus on those that "do" rather than those who "don't". That is, instructors that walk their talk and or practice what they preach are promoted to higher levels of responsibility and rank. Time in rank and "loyalty" are secondary considerations to taking positive, proactive, and professional heart felt action.

    The Federation accomplishes the above goal by having two major leadership programs and providing on-going service and support to our school owners by offering Black Belt and Masters evaluations at "general" and where practical "school based" graduations. In the area of Leadership, the Federation's offers:

• Junior Leader (17 and under)

• Certified Instructor (18 and over)

    The Federation has a state of the art Junior Leader program and makes it available to member schools by invitation only. Along with helping to develop our juniors through on-going training on communication skills and basic leadership principles, the Federation  offers member studios a Certified Instructor Training (CIT) program to help assist with producing the very best staff and leadership personnel. Our program consists of interactive training modules focused on advanced leadership principles rather than a textbook of martial arts reference material. Our focus is on the art of pedagogy rather than mere physical techniques. The difference between the two is the difference between a karate school and or just another book with karate pictures and a learning or peak performance center. Or another way to look at it is the difference between basic self-defense and advanced Black Belt Leadership training. To sum it up, the Federation focuses on building Black Belt Leaders whose goal is to become Certified Instructors and some day Chief Instructors and academy owners. We are all about building leaders not only on the training floor but also in the community.

    To know what you want and then to know how to get it is one true measure of mastery in life as well as the martial arts. Are you where you want to be in the martial arts?

    To know how to get from where you are to where you want to be is one of the first steps of martial arts success training. To be successful you must:

    The Federation's main focus will be to help you with number #2. and number #4 above. The rest is up to you. To help you plan, you need to know where you are and where you want to be. To help you continue you need a supportive, encouraging, and action oriented martial arts organization. It's our humble opinion you don't need just another martial arts hierarchy. We have all experienced the "politics" and the "what have you done for us recently" mentality that is so prevalent in today's organizations. Where the Federation is different is that we are all about serving our school owners not the other way around. You see, we believe that the school owner is best prepared to know what is best for their students and their own school. We don't believe that school owners need a central dictating body to tell them how to run their schools and so we don't try to!
